Gradual Is the Way to Go

When you are preparing your body for a pre-pregnancy cleanse, a gradual approach is the way to go. You can still accomplish a tremendous amount of cleansing that is both gentle and effective. In my experience, these gentle diet upgrades were not too harsh so I still felt good about continuing along my journey to conceive without releasing too much gunk and toxins into my system. (I have been eating this way throughout my pregnancy too.)
Pre-Pregnancy Cleanse: Prepare Your Body
The key to a gentle cleanse is to augment your diet with rich, hydrating fruits, vegetables and salads (naturally cleansing foods). You also want to continue to eat quality cooked vegetables, lean proteins, etc. to balance the cleansing power of these raw foods.
- Introduce a piece of fruit or a
smoothie for breakfast to maximize your body’s overnight rejuvenation work. Check out these smoothie ideas. This Classic Green Smoothie is my morning breakfast favorite. (If you are a buttered toast or cereal person, save those for later in the day.) - Enjoy a few more vegetarian meals in your week. Eggs, meat and fish at every meal requires a lot of digestive energy – limiting the amount of time your bod spends on rejuvenation work. Learn more here about easy to digest foods here.
- Eat one large salad with raw veggies each day. Have it with your lunch or dinner. Toss in a few darker leafy greens (such as baby spinach) which are loaded with chlorophyll, a detox agent. Learn more.
- Upgrade your white pasta, white bread and white rice to include whole grains.
- You don’t have to give up coffee but try and reduce the amount you drink (if you drink a lot). It hampers your bod’s detox work and some beauties believe the acidity contributes to cellulite. Learn more.
- Enjoy sweets in moderation. Consider a few bites of a high quality (>70% cocoa) dark chocolate instead.
- Keep mind of portion sizes so your body is not using its energy on digestion all the time. Get acquainted with the concept of a Buddha Bowl.
- Most importantly, have fun with the journey. Get acquainted with new foods and pay attention to how good you start to feel….
