Prepare Your Body for A Baby (Naturally) – Part II

Are you thinking about having a baby? Learn what detox gurus recommend to naturally prepare your body.

Phase I: Embrace more fresh, wholesome foods

In the first part of this multi-part series, cleansing gurus Giuliana Torre and Jacqueline Graham in conjunction with detox guru Dr. Gabriel Cousens, highlight the importance of eating the right diet. If you are just starting to think about preparing your body for pregnancy, these gurus recommend embracing a pre-pregnancy cleansing veggie-centric diet rich in organic fruits, veggies and salads. They also recommend cutting back on (and ideally eliminating) foods, like caffeine, alcohol and sugar, that tend to inhibit your body’s naturally restorative work.

Phase II: Dive a little deeper into cleansing

In the second phase of cleansing, these gurus recommend diving a little deeper into raw fruits, vegetables and their juices.

  1. Consider a juice fast You health beauties who already eat a mostly vegetarian diet, may consider dabbling in a one to two week juice fast to jump start your pre-pregnancy preparation. These cleansing gurus believe juice fasting allows your body’s enzymes to expend energy on detoxification (which gets weighed down over the years from pollution exposure and poor eating habits). For the more adventurous of you, these gurus recommend doing a series of colonics during this time as well. Colonics, they believe, greatly facilitate any kind of detox so that the toxins do not get stuck in your intestinal tract.   2. Focus on gradually removing heavy metals from your body During the early to mid stages of pre-pregnancy cleansing, after steps have been made to begin eating more fresh, veggie-centric foods, these cleansing gurus recommend both parents consider embracing foods to help remove heavy heavy metals and pesticides from your body. This in turn will allow both parents to better absorb nutrients from food, and so the body energy can move from body detoxification to supporting the reproductive organs. These gurus recommend conducting a heavy metal detox diet at least 3 months before you attempt to conceive.

  3. Embrace foods rich in folic acid Dark leafy greens (including kale, Swiss chard, collard greens and baby spinach) are a wonderful, natural way to remove heavy metal toxins from your body. Dark leafy greens are also abundant in folic acid, which prevents spinal malformation in the fetus. This is critical to take before and during conception. Green powders such as Healthforce Vitamineral Green or Infinite Greens are also great alternatives to a multivitamin as they are powdered greens from a variety of sources, and cover the bases during pregnancy.
