How To Prepare Your Body For Pregnancy: Step 1 – Upgrade Your Diet
Get Back to Basics

Everyone has an opinion when it comes to preparing your body for a healthy, happy pregnancy. I chose to keep it simple by getting back to basics and eating more whole, uncooked foods. These foods are considered gentle, naturally cleansing foods. (Learn more about the benefits of eating more clean, cleansing foods here.) I’d like to think my journey to motherhood over the last few months has been such a joy thanks to this strategy.
Step 1: upgrade your diet
- Start to eat more simple, natural foods. Start by enjoying a few more apples, oranges and bananas. Leave a few of your veggies raw now and then. Fruits, uncooked veggies and hydrating raw salads are gentle, naturally cleansing foods. Compliment these live foods with roasted broccoli, steamed squash, quality lean meats, fish and organic eggs. Enjoy better-for-you grains on occasion including whole wheat pastas and brown rice. You might even try protein packed quinoa. (Learn more about quinoa here.)
- Seek out organic fruits and veggies when you can to help ease your bod’s toxic load. Anytime you eat the whole fruit (apples, strawberries, blueberries) or vegetable (bell peppers, romaine lettuce, etc.) you should aim to buy organic when you can.
- Try and reduce the amount of boxed and bagged foods you are eating. They are usually filled with preservatives and additives that gunk up your bod’s works. This means more time is spent on digestion vs your bod’s housecleaning and baby-prep work.
