Happy HalloCLEAN: Sugar Purge

You’ve been taking down Halloween candies for a few weeks now, you can’t help but get into the festive spirit. Last night though, you came over the top loading your belly with all sorts of sweet goodness. Today your tummy wins and you realize you need to start purging the sugary nibbles that have taken over your afternoons (and recent evenings).

As you look to cut down on your Halloween sugar intake this week – don’t worry you don’t have to go cold turkey. There are plenty of nutritious nibbles to help you trim down on your sugar intake without going into massive withdrawl. Try these naturally sweet treats.

  • A crisp, fall apple (sliced) with a scoop of almond butter.
  • A handful of mixed nuts with a few raisins.
  • A serving of coconut milk yogurt with a drizzle of honey. (Or greek yogurt if you don’t have coconut milk yogurt.)
  • A serving of unsweetened granola with a splash of milk. (I like Blue Diamond almond milk.)
  • A bag of homemade popcorn with a little sea salt.

Still having sugar cravings and feelings of sugar withdrawl?

Later in the week if you are finding that you are still having massive sugar cravings, B vitamins and vitamin C could be helpful in your fight. Looking for a good B-complex vitamin and vitamin C addition? I like this multi-vitamin from Vita Synergy (which is made with whole foods and contains no artificial fillers). For a little extra vitamin C boost, and to flavor my water on the go sometimes, I also like to use Emergen-C packets. The Tangerine flavor is one of my favorites.
