What To Expect During A Juice Fast

Remember if its your first time considering a juice fast, take it slow and consider your diet history. Most people who are looking to do something healthy for themselves with a juice fast will do a series of mini fasts, juicing until lunch or dinner, and then build up to a one day to five day juice fast.

Headaches, sluggishness and the desire to “chew” is sometimes quite intense

With that in mind, during the first few hours or days of your juice fast you may not feel 100%. Headaches, sluggishness and the desire to “chew” and be stimulated by food is sometimes quite intense. The use of gravity administered colonics can help ease these symptoms.

Everyone responds to detoxification differently

Everyone responds to detoxification differently, depending on the level of toxicity in the body. Even veteran fasters, and clean eaters will often experience a hurdle in the first few hours or days of a juice fast.

Meat, dairy, coffee and sugars are all stimulants. As you take them out of your daily diet routine, and replace them with fresh pressed juices you will likely experience some withdrawal.

Some fasters say that their taste buds change and the demand for caffeine or sugary and salty foods start to change. Personally, I’ve noticed this not just from a two or three day juice fast but rather through a more progressive approach to a clean diet filled with more natural fruits and vegetables. It doesn’t happen over night, unfortunately. And despite what you may hear, EVERYONE still gets cravings for their various vices. But that said, the directional change is positive and the cravings for the vices do become less frequent as your diet centers more and more around natural plant based foods.

In general, juicing can help release a few extra pounds that won’t come off with diet and exercise…just remember that the “re-feeding” period after the fast is just as important, if not, more important.
