Green Based Juices Are Best For Juice Fasts

Veteran juice fasters expound on the virtues of the infamous “green juice.” But what is this infamous “green juice?”
There are dozens of versions of this infamous green juice. “Green juice” can be pressed in a juicer with celery, cucumber, parsley, mint and an apple. It can also be pressed in a juicer with just cucumber, spinach and pear. A “green juice” can also be made in a blender with the same ingredients. The difference between the two is that one has fiber (the blended smoothie) and one doesn’t (the one made in the juicer).
“Green juices” aid in detoxification
During detoxification, and in this case juice fasting, green-based, pressed vegetable juices are best. They are low in fiber (which frees up digestive energy), sugar (as compared to more fruit-based juices) and loaded with vitamins, minerals, vegetable proteins and phytochemicals (which contribute to good health and disease prevention).
Green smoothies, are delicious and nutritious of course, but remember if you are really looking to power up your body’s detoxification work, stick to the pressed green juices rather than green smoothies. Green juices have no fiber, and thus are extremely efficient for the body to digest – therefore allowing more time to be spent on healing and repair work.
Green vegetable juice also provides nutrients to rebuild your body
Green vegetable juice, in addition to helping with the awakening and releasing of toxins in the body, also provides the necessary nutrients to rebuild your body. Seasonal accents like mint and ginger add a subtle finish. You could even spice your juice up with a little jalapeno.
If you don’t have access to a juicer however, no worries! If your local health food store doesn’t sell juices either, a green based smoothie is also a fabulous option. Both green veggie based juices (and green smoothies) are packed with chlorophyll (which is “sunshine” in a green form that is purifying and healing to our bodies), antioxidants, and good-for-your-blood nutrients for superior health and energy. Overtime you might consider an investment in a juicer. Indulge the purists!
Starting your day with a green juice or green smoothie allows your body to continue its detoxification efforts throughout the morning (this includes chewing through those fat cells). Don’t save them just for your dedicated juice fasting days!
Sounds like a treat you can’t refuse.
