Last winter’s overabundance of parties and global frolicking have you feeling weighed down. Lighten up with these 7 easy steps to restore and naturally rejuvenate your body. It’s the type of insider insight you wish someone would have just shared with you years ago. I have had tremendous success with these ideas, let me know if they work for you!
Also, congratulations to “lisaprosser” you are the winner of the Green Lemonade BluePrint Cleanse Giveaway! Please contact me so I can get the Tasting Flight package from the gals at the BluePrint Cleanse out to you. And for everyone else, please stay tuned. More fun giveaways are coming along with an everyone-can-do-it-eating-and-drinking-cleanse in July and August with Dr. Alejandro Junger’s Clean team.
If you want something sooner, the BluePrint Cleanse is also offering 10% off on a Juice Until Dinner Program today and tomorrow. Enter “MYDAD” at checkout. It’s expensive ladies, that’s for sure. But even just one day is such a wonderful reset. I think though with this coupon you must do 2 days. You feel great and you get an appreciation for portion sizes. Save up some money – maybe skip that monthly mani/pedi. I’m not a big proponent of spending a lot of money on supplements, but I think this investment in you is a good one.
7 Ways to Rejuvenate Your Body Naturally
- Try a morning smoothie.
- Introduce the concept of the “Buddha Bowl” into your life.
- Try “food combining”.
- Try to limit dairy.
- Minimize snacking.
- Try not to eat super late at night.
- Move.
Experiment with smoothies or a bowl of fruit for breakfast to really maximize your body’s overnight healing, repair and fat-burning work.
Serving size is the secret to not packing on the pounds, and allowing more of your body’s energy to be spent on healing and repair work (vs digestion all the time). A Buddha bowl is roughly the size of your cupped hands. While it may seem small at first, give your body and mind time to adjust. Practice eating mindfully and then go for a short walk after you finish eating to set the end of the meal in your mind. If in the beginning after eating this portion of food you find that you are still hungry, add another half of a Buddha bowl portion. Some of you might appreciate a little more direction here – so consider this buddha bowl in your daily routine.
Loosely experiment with food combining. While it may sound a little “new-agey” think of food combining as a tool to help you maximize your body’s digestive energy (therefore allowing more energy and time to be spent chewing through fat cells). Food combining is also great built-in portion control. Learn more about food combining here, and give yourself a week or so to get into it.
“You will pee in your pants when you see how much weight you lose from giving up dairy.” – Rory Freedman and Kim Barnounin, Skinny Bitch. (I love these ladies.) Instead of regular milk, try almond milk, coconut milk or rice milk instead. This coconut yogurt is also fabulous.
Try to minimize all-day snacking by keeping snacks to designated hours and at a minimum of 2 hours after a meal. This can be hard I know. For many of us it’s just nice to chew on something during times of stress, anxiety and even fun.
If you can, skip eating super late at night. It’s different for everyone, but most often eating late at night interrupts your body’s healing, repair and fat-burning work. Eating too close to bed can also make a huge difference in the quality of your sleep. Try eating a little earlier, or have a liquid-based dinner such as a soup with a sprouted grain toast and see if you notice a difference. Maybe I’m getting older, but I have noticed quite a change myself.
Don’t underestimate the importance of movement to feel your best. Go for a walk, a jog or try a new fitness class at your local gym. Pull out that bike that has been sitting in the garage and bike to your local farmer’s market. Or pick up a surf board at the beach this summer and take a surf lesson with a group of friends. It’s amazing what a game changer some exercise can be.
