Tips for whole body detoxification
Gradually begin to moderate your intake of “stimulants” as you conduct whole body detoxification.
When you are conducting a gradual whole body detoxification, you are focused on adopting a simple, natural approach to eating and living. This systematic, more measured approached to detoxification does not take place over night or in a 3 day or 7 day juice fast. We arrived at this need (as a result of lethargy, stubborn pounds, etc) for whole body detoxification after years of poor eating and often over eating. And so cinderella, change doesn’t come overnight.
The “rules” of what to eat and what not to eat in a longer term, whole-body cleanse are more lenient to compensate as you adjust to new eating patterns and to satisfy emotional needs as well. Obviously, if you were doing a short 3 day juice fast you would not be eating any meat or dairy or drinking coffee and enjoying red wine! But in a longer-term, more gradual whole body cleanse these foods are included in moderation to help you stay on track.
Whole body detoxification foods, what’s included?
In a more measured, systematic approach to detoxification, meat, fish and dairy can still be included, but are treated as a compliment to meals rather than the main course. The more leafy greens, raw fruits and veggies you eat the more chance you have of eliminating waste residue in your body. Meat, fish and dairy are fine to enjoy in moderation but do not ultimately have the cleansing and rejuvenating power of freshly gathered fruits and vegetables which are filled with live enzymes.
Consider gathering inspiration from these cleansing, detox-diet friendly meal ideas:
- Gluten-Free, Low Calorie Detox Pizza
- Roasted Red Pepper + Goat Cheese Sandwich
- Creamy Red Pepper Collard Wraps
- Yellow Squash and Red Pepper Quinoa Boats
- Lemon Lime Shake (Inspired by Organic Avenue)
What about alcohol and coffee you ask?
Look to moderate your intake of alcohol and coffee during a longer-term, systematic cleanse. In the meantime, no need to declare war on any of these foods. Moderate use of either or both will still put you far ahead. Be patient with yourself and the journey.
Overtime, you may notice that as you start to eat more real, natural foods from your produce section your taste buds and the biochemical terrain of your body may actually begin to change. And whereas in the beginning you couldn’t imagine a day without a cup of coffee or just 1 small cup of coffee, you may start to not even miss it.
