Sweating is one of the best ways to detox your body.
Start the new year off right. Compliment healthy eating habits with exercise. Exercise is key in leading a healthier and happier life. Plus exercise and sweating is one of the best things you can do to cleanse and rejuvenate your body. Your skin is the body’s largest organ, and a good sweat, plays a big part in helping your body detox and renew itself.
Invest in a heart rate monitor
Ramp up the intensity of your workout – and your sweat factor – with a heart rate monitor. I recommend the Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor. Here’s what I like about it.
- Price: Reasonable at ~$80-$100, depending on the vendor. You can find it at Amazon for ~$80. Buying through Polar is slightly more (~$100) – but they are currently offering free shipping.
- Ease of use: Watch is a nice size (not too big) with large display. Chest band (a plastic + fabric combo) is generally comfortable to wear.
- Versatility: Great to use at the gym (compatible with most gym machines and awesome for spinning) and outside – walking, running, biking etc. Keeps you focused on staying within your target heart rate/fat burning/endurance zones so you get the most benefit.
- Key features: Monitors average + max target heart rates, counts calories, keeps track of training sessions and tells you how much time you spent in fat burning or fitness zones. Let’s you store data from your workouts so you can track progress. Takes regular batteries (many don’t).
Want a good, but cheaper heart rate monitor?
Don’t want to shell out $80-$100 right now for a heart rate monitor? I like the Polar FS1 heart rate monitor as well. It costs ~$25-$40. I used this Polar monitor for many years and find that for basic monitoring (heart rate, work out duration) it works just fine.
