Healthy Living With Organic Avenue

Happy Friday everyone. Who’s ready for the beach? My 6pm departure is set. Before you go, check out these healthy living ideas from Mia Andres. Mia is a driving force behind the L.O.V.E. (Live. Organic. Vegan. Experience.) message at Organic Avenue.
As many of you know, this week we’ve been celebrating how to live a more healthy, feel-good life with Organic Avenue – the adored juice, smoothie and fresh food boutique here in New York. Catch up here with ideas from Organic Avenue’s Fernanda, Kalyn, Tanya, Eric and now Mia (below).
Mia, thank you for stopping in! Can you give us a little insight into your favorite things to do to be healthy?
Two years ago this July, I shifted my lifestyle to a living foods/raw and vegan diet. For the past year and a half, I have been thriving on Organic Avenue fresh, cold pressed juices and food. This past week, I finished a 7 day spiritual fast with Dr. Gabriel Cousens at Organic Avenue. My diet has shifted again to live even cleaner. I am now committed to eliminating Agave in my diet and planning my live-food diet according to my days activities.
What are some of your favorite go-to resources for organic produce and foods for those of us on a budget?
I love to wake up early and shop at the farmer’s market in New York City. I especially love the Union Square Farmer’s Market.
If people wanted to reset after a period of indulgence, what Organic Avenue program might they consider? And if Organic Avenue may not be an option right now, is there one change you might recommend people make for a few days to “reset”?
I personally love the LOVE More cleanse at Organic Avenue. I would suggest easing into this one after experiencing a LOVE Deep cleanse * which will allow for a gentle detox. What is great about Organic Avenue is that our staff will recommend a cleanse that is best suited for your needs.
* Organic Avenue’s Love Deep cleanse celebrates a break from solid foods for a few days and instead nourishes your body through a series of nutrient rich pressed juices. The Love More cleanse from Organic Avenue is on the more progressive end of the cleansing spectrum (after L.O.V.E.easy, L.O.V.E.fast and L.O.V.E. deep). The Love More cleanse is highly alkaline-forming and full of greens.

Can you recommend a retreat or spa for someone who would like a little supervision in their indulgence resetting/detox program? Or even something closer to home to consider? What do you do?
I would suggest The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Patagonia Arizona.
What inspired you to start enjoying a more veggie-centric lifestyle?
A major life changing transformation shifted my lifestyle which lead to the raw vegan lifestyle. I attended a Qi Revolution in the summer of 2008 in California after returning to the West Coast to follow my truth. On day two of the four day Qigong workshop I had my first nutritious smoothie and my cells were jumping for joy and this minute I committed to eating raw and vegan. As I sat in the lecture listening what I’ve heard many times in my life about the foods that were destroying the body and how you can heal the body through living foods, the light bulb in my mind clicked. Through this change, I lost 35lbs through eating this way and incorporating daily meditation, physical aerobic workouts with a trainer and regular colon hydrotherapy.
What one piece of advice would you give to people just learning about the benefits of a more veggie centric lifestyle?
I would suggest visiting Organic Avenue and speak to our team or ask for me. We are here to support and help people transition with ease. Our number is 212-358-0500 or contact us at love@organicavenue.com.
Is there a favorite treat you would recommend newcomers to Organic Avenue to pick up?
I would suggest trying our Carrot Juice and our delicious Lasagna.
Some people are intimidated by green juice……what would you recommend?
Young Love Green Juice has 3 simple ingredients, Cucumber, Celery and Spinach. It’s easy to drink for first timers. Upon drinking Young Love, most people say, it’s like drinking a salad. They love the taste because it’s smooth and refreshing.

When you are traveling and can’t get an Organic Avenue juice or smoothie fix, what do you suggest eating to stay healthy and energized?
I always travel with Dr Robert Young’s product, Doc Brocs. Doc Brocs are alkaline greens that have been dehydrated. I carry it on the plane and add water along with ph drops called PuripHy which kills the microbes in bottled water and raises the alkaline state of the water to a 10.5 PH level. I also like to bring along several grapefruits with me to help hydrate and they are easy on the digestive system especially when on an airplane. And lastly, I love Haas Avocados which I take on board when traveling. Avocados are easy to eat alone or with a salad.
Mia, thank you so much for your time.
