Detox Breakfast: Indian Spiced Sweet Potato Fries

At this stage in the game, a special someone in your life is not up for a smoothie for breakfast. That’s ok. There are other ways to ramp up your bestie’s housecleaning, healing and repairwork. Who knows, in the future this beauty may join you for a smoothie. (But let’s not hold our breath right now). These Indian Spiced Sweet Potato Fries are for that special someone in your life who wants a “hearty” not “fruity” breakfast. What makes these “fries” detox friendly you ask? These sweet potato fries are considerate of ingredients that are easily recognizable, utilizable and digestible by your body. Feeding your body these types of foods then gives your body more time to focus on its housecleaning, healing and repair work.

Indian Spiced Sweet Potato Fries

Serving Size: 1-2, ~300 calories per serving

Ingredients

2 medium sweet potatoes
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon coriander
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
2 tablespoons coconut oil (or organic butter)

  • Sweet Potatoes are loaded with fiber. Fiber is crucial in a cleansing diet.

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 400F degrees.

Wash and cut sweet potatoes into long, thin strips. Place coconut oil or butter into a frying pan over medium heat. Melt coconut oil (or butter), then add spices. Toss in sweet potato strips into the pan and cover with melted coconut oil (or butter) and spices.

Remove pan from flame and toss sweet potato strips onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (to save on clean up). Bake in the oven for ~25-30 minutes until sweet potato strips are brown and crispy. Serve hot.

Notes: If you are short on time in the am, slice potatoes the night before and then toss them in the oven in the morning while you get ready for work.
