Kiwi Smoothie – Loaded with Vitamin C

Tired of the same old smoothie? Try this Kiwi Smoothie. Kiwi fruits are rich in Vitamin C (more than oranges) which is helpful in boosting your immunity and key in the fight against wrinkles. Wrinkles too you say? Yes. Vitamin C is important in the formation of collagen – responsible for the youthful elasticity in your skin. New reason to keep up with your Vitamin C intake this winter…

Kiwi Smoothie Twist

Serving Size: 1, makes 16 ounces (~150 calories)

Ingredients

2 kiwis, peeled
1 cup coconut water* (I like Zico brand)
1/2 apple, peeled + cored
1 lime, juiced
1/8th TEAspoon Stevia*
6 ice cubes

Better-for-you ingredients

Learn more about the better-for-you ingredients in this recipe:

  • Fruit, such as kiwis and apples, are one of nature’s naturally cleansing and restorative foods. Fruit is loaded with fiber, which is crucial in a cleansing diet.
  • Coconut Water. Coconut water contains essential minerals and electrolytes that are valuable to our body’s health and rejuvenation work. Many dudes and dudettes love to drink coconut water after a tough workout because it replaces valuable electrolytes lost during physical activity.
  • Stevia. A better-for-you sweetener. Artificial sweeteners like Splenda often linger around in your bod gunking up the works. These sweeteners ultimately slow down your bod’s healing and rejuvenation work.

Directions

Place kiwis, coconut water, apple, lime juice, Stevia and ice into a Blendtec, or good powerful blender until smooth and creamy. Enjoy with visions of warm Hawaiian sunshine and sand!

Notes: Stevia is a plant native to Central and South America. It is 300 times as sweet as sugar, but has zero calories. A little Stevia goes a long way. I recommend the Nu Naturals brand of Stevia in powdered form.
